July 05, 2024

Territory, Politics, Governance journalProf. Zack Taylor, Dept. of Political Science, has been appointed to a five-year term as editor-in-chief of Territory, Politics, Governance, an international, interdisciplinary journal published by the Regional Studies Association. The journal is committed to the development of theory and research on territorial politics and the governance of space and the publication of original, high-quality international scholarship that advances this growing field of research.

Established in 2013 through the leadership of its founding editor-in-chief, UCLA political geographer John Agnew, as a venue to explore the intersection between territory, politics, and governance. Over the past five years, the journal has expanded from four to ten issues per year and will publish 75 articles in 2024.

Taylor thanks outgoing editor-in-chief Klaus Dodds, professor of geopolitics at Royal Holloway, University of London. “Over the past six years, Klaus has presided over the journal’s expansion and diversified its editorial board, all the while weathering the Covid-19 pandemic. I look forward to working with the editorial board and the RSA to build on Klaus’s leadership by continuing to broaden the journal’s geographic, thematic, and disciplinary reach and impact.”

The journal’s editorial board reflects its global remit, with members in Africa (Christopher Isike, University of Pretoria), Asia (Kwan Ok Lee, National University of Singapore), Latin America (Jose L. Niño-Amézquita, EAN University, Colombia); and Europe (Carlo Inverardi-Ferru, Queen Mary, University of London; Kei Otsuki, Utrecht University; Vanesa Castán Broto, University of Sheffield; and Virginie Mamadouh, University of Amsterdam).

Founded in 1965 and based in the United Kingdom, the Regional Studies Association is a global interdisciplinary learned society dedicated to the analysis of regions and regional issues. Networking and supporting scholars, students, practitioners, and policy makers, the RSA publishes six journals, two book series, and organizes international conferences. Taylor will serve on the board of directors of the RSA during his tenure as editor-in-chief of the journal.
