Western faculty and staff members have access to a broad range of health services and supports.

Personal well-being encompasses a wide range of ideas. Wellness involves not only working in a safe environment but addresses concerns surrounding physical, emotional, and mental health. A safe work environment is legislated by various levels of governments. It is also covered in the Labour Relations Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, and various other acts. Western offers in-house training in Occupational Health and Safety and Rehabilitation Services. Ontario has the WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) to oversee Ontario workplaces. As well, there is information about workplace health at Student Health Services.

The City of London offers information through the Middlesex-London Health Unit. Another useful local health website is

They are also available across Canada and internationally if you are travelling, on sabbatical or have a dependent studying away from home. Counselling can be done in-person, on the phone, via video or online. In addition to emergency and counselling services, EFAP offers an extensive range of services that can assist with challenges you face, and help to boost your health and wellness.

Stress can manifest itself in physical symptoms. The Canadian Institute of Stress provides information that may help identify a possible cause of stress that may or may not be related to your job.
