Logan ZaharchukIn our Meet Our Students: Celebrating Success Stories series, we continue to spotlight the incredible individuals who embody the spirit of ambition, creativity, and community at the Faculty of Social Science. This edition features Logan Zaharchuk, an Honours Specialization student in Consumer Behaviour within the Management and Organizational Studies (MOS) program at Western University.

For Zaharchuk, choosing MOS with a focus on Consumer Behaviour was a natural fit. “What drew me to studying MOS Consumer Behaviour was the chance to focus on business from more of a creative lens,” she explains. With a passion for branding and marketing, she found a program that not only nurtured her creativity but also sharpened her critical thinking skills. “It challenges me to look at problems from different perspectives—whether it’s understanding what drives consumer choices or how to craft effective marketing strategies,” she says.

This thoughtful, multifaceted approach to business education has given Zaharchuk the tools to engage deeply with real-world concepts while developing a strong academic foundation. One key element of her success has been the support she’s received from Western’s advising team. “I have found my academic advisor to be one of the most valuable resources during my time at Western,” she shares. “Meeting once a year to review my academic plan has given me the peace of mind that I’m on the right track.”

Zaharchuk has also taken full advantage of experiential learning opportunities through the Social Science Internship Program, which she’s participated in for the past two summers. “It’s been an incredibly valuable experience,” she says. “Not only did I gain real-world experience, but having that extra 0.5 course credit already completed helped me better balance my workload during the school year.” She credits the internship and careers team for being approachable and supportive—an often-underutilized resource, in her view.

Beyond the classroom, Zaharchuk has made a lasting impact through her involvement in student leadership and campus life. A dedicated member of the Social Science Students’ Council for the past two years, she now steps into the role of Vice-President Communications. “Being involved with SSSC has truly enriched my experience,” she says. “It’s given me a creative outlet to produce content and connect with students in meaningful ways.” Her leadership extends to the Western Pre-Law Society, where she will also serve as Vice-President Communications—an opportunity that allows her to explore her interest in law while building on her communications expertise.

These experiences have been more than just resume builders—they’ve been central to Zaharchuk’s growth. “Getting involved has helped me grow as a leader, build lasting friendships, and feel truly connected to the campus community,” she reflects. Her advice to fellow students? “Don’t be afraid to get involved. The experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met have completely shaped my time at Western.”
