Meet Our Students: Celebrating Success Stories – Trinity Yeung

By Diana Corredor
Trinity YeungIour Meet Our Students: Celebrating Success Stories series, we highlight the unique journeys of students whose experiences reflect the breadth and opportunities within the Faculty of Social Science. This edition features Trinity Yeung, a student in the Management and Organizational Studies (MOS) program specializing in Human Resource Management.

Yeung’s path toward her specialization began in her first year, where an introductory course in human resources and consumer behaviour sparked her interest. “The professor’s teaching style was extremely accessible and really drew me in,” she shares. What began as curiosity soon became a passion, leading her to pursue more courses in the field and eventually switch her specialization to Human Resource Management.

The program’s structure—beginning with foundational courses before progressing to more specialized and interconnected content—proved invaluable. Yeung explains, “It allowed me to see a little bit of everything and the big picture before exploring each topic individually. Understanding how the puzzle pieces fit together helped me make connections across classes and apply concepts holistically, especially in strategy courses.”

Beyond the classroom, Yeung expanded her learning through the Social Science Co-op Program, extending her degree by a year to complete a 16-month placement. This hands-on experience offered the opportunity to apply her academic knowledge in real-world settings, develop professional skills, and explore different aspects of the workplace. “Intern positions are often designed to expose you to a variety of experiences,” she reflects. “It gave me the chance to build soft skills, make meaningful connections, and learn more about my working style.”

Faculty support has also been central to Yeung’s journey. Through office hours and one-on-one guidance, professors encouraged her to adapt her learning strategies, push beyond her comfort zone, and even apply for awards that recognized her growth and achievements.

Community played an equally important role in shaping her student experience. “One of the perks of such a big faculty is that community is everywhere,” Yeung says. “Students are always open to supporting one another—it sometimes just takes one person to start a class group chat. As classes become smaller and more specialized in later years, it’s even easier to build strong connections and bond over shared experiences.”

In her final year, Yeung’s dedication and persistence were recognized with the DANCAP Private Equity Award from the Department of DAN Management and Organizational Studies. This achievement marked a fitting conclusion to her undergraduate journey, as she completed her degree with courses that brought together the many skills and insights she had developed over the years.
