Application Process
STEP 1: Attend an Information Session
Fall 2025 Dates TBA - Not applicable for advance registration.
STEP 2: Apply on Western Connect (mandatory)
The advance registration form for 2025-2026 is now open on Western Connect. Since this is an early expression of interest, your eligibility will be checked after all grades have been finalized (mid-summer).
Regular admissions will re-open in Fall 2025.
Register at Western Connect by completing the “Intern/Co-op - SSDM - Social Science and DAN Management Internship Program” application form:
Third year students: By completing this form, you will automatically have access to both 4-month and 8-16 month opportunities offered through the Social Science Internship Program.
Approved applicants will be granted access to view internship job postings on Western Connect.
STEP 3: Resumé & Cover Letter Workshop + Assessment (mandatory)
All approved students must attend a Resume & Cover letter workshop and submit their resume for review by the deadline to continue in the program.
Once you've received feedback, you will be encouraged to tailor each application package that you submit to employers. You will continue to have access to feedback from the Social Science Internship Program team on your individual applications throughout the recruitment season.
Summer 2025 (Advance registration):
Approved students will receive details to register for one of the workshop dates:
Wednesday, July 23rd from 12:00pm - 1:30pm on Zoom
Thursday, July 31st from 5:00pm - 6:30pm on Zoom
Resume assessment submission deadline: Sunday, August 10th at 11:59PM
Fall 2025 (Regular admission)
Workshop dates and resume assessment deadline TBA.
STEP 4: For International Students: Apply for a Co-op Work Permit (mandatory)
International students who meet the requirements to participate in the internship program must secure a valid co-op work permit regardless of the timing and length of the internship. Following approval to the internship program, students will receive a Faculty letter to submit with their co-op work permit application.
We encourage students to submit their application by December 2025 for a Summer 2026 work term to avoid delays.
Western's International Student Services advisory team is available to help you in the work permit application process! Please email iss@uwo.ca or book an appointment with an International Student Advisor for support.
